We recieved an email sent to Brighton Area Schools from a parent regarding digital theft and lack of transparency with "shared services", "associations" and "third party data sharing". This sparked the LivingstonLantern to do some digging.
We found mass failure to provide informed consent information as well as options to opt out for privacy protections of local families and their children's sensitive data throughout Livingston County Schools:
Do you know what your schools are signing your family up for when they "sell" or contract your data to third parties? From what we have gathered, it works like this.:
▪︎The schools accept grant money from 501c3's, university study pilot programs, The Department of Defense and Federal programs.
▪︎The grants money comes with criteria that needs to be met in exchange for the funds.
PII (Personal Identifying Information) is then taken by these third party partners and sold on the digital market.
All contracts agree to provide the digital third parties with PII of your child/your family.
A local parent has been asking these questions since the beginning of the 21/22 school year when the push to mass digitize our schools and the students ramped up under the guise of "contact tracing" which proved to be totally disastrous for students in our local schools. Specifically impacting our children's mental health.
To date this parent has received no response and is continuously given the run around when asking school administration for an opt out option. Much like parents were given the run around during the "mandate" period of 2020/21.

There is no liability. There is no opt-out:
An email sent to Brighton Area Schools last fall from this parent, (who is sick of the forced compliance through uninformed bully tactics to force consent) was "a last resort notification" to protect their child in regard to the sharing of their children's personal digital identity. This parent was angry and sent the following email to the athletic department, board of trustees and the superintendent after recieving a condescending response from the athletic secretary:
We decided to dive into the programs and third party connections/contracts within our local school systems, and boy have we found a mountain of "trafficking in our children's digital identity" on behalf of our local schools.
We will be discussing these contracts and exactly how disturbing the selling of our privacy has become within our community as soon as a few more FOIAs are filled.
Bottom line...
▪︎Is your private information really private?
▪︎Do our schools care about the future of our students both digitally and in reality when they are being reported to the Department of Justice through contracts based on any information the person making the report feels relevant?
▪︎How will this affect our children in the future?
▪︎Are they being profiled digitally?
▪︎How has this reporting of our children by school staff affected the 5 year old that tickled his classmate and was labeled a sex offender while being blasted throughout the district by a BAS Spanish teacher? (Who has yet to be charged with FERPA violation.)

This past April 2024, at our school board meeting the district was introduced to Crowdstrike cyber security. Unlike what their(Crowdstrike) webpage says, they are a Ukrainian based and founded company. They also contract with our three letter agencies who contract through our government.
Do we want a cyber security firm in our schools that was involved in the DNC hack and Russan collusion and tied to military based government contracting programs?

Human digital tracking is a tool used in Communist China to control behaviors and the manner in which their population is allowed to live. The Chinese Uyghurs didn't have anything to hide... now they are encamped and tortured.
Until we realize, it's not about having something to hide, its about personal sovereignty and human rights we will doom our children to this fate.
