HARTLAND, MI--- Public school teacher and Hartland parent Angela Yarber has filed to run for the Hartland Consolidated Schools Board of Education.

Yarber states her top three priorities are “Student Safety, Transparency and Academics/Career Prep.” Citing her 27 years of teaching experience in public and private schools, as well as those of being a substitute teacher and volunteer in Hartland Schools, she believes she can deliver a unique, insightful perspective to the board.

“My passion is education,” Yarber said. “I understand, as both a teacher and a parent, what it’s like to be concerned about a child’s education.”

Yarber, 51, is married to her husband of 24 years, Alex. She is also the mother of two Hartland graduates and one Hartland High School freshman. Throughout her time as a parent, substitute teacher and volunteer, she has established relationships with many of Hartland’s dedicated teachers and administrators, and believes her years of experience and thorough knowledge of Hartland schools will allow her to maximize safety protocols, as well as support an elevated level of excellence in the classroom. She additionally advocates increasing transparency for the community, and making Hartland Schools the first choice for parents looking to provide their children with a stellar education

“Schools are the foundation of a community,” said Yarber. “I want Hartland Schools to be the best they can be.”
